Sunscreen Cream
A structured oil-in-water cream carrying mineral UV filters at high load without the whitening cast that usually comes with them.
Cream is the format where mineral filters are hardest to work with. Zinc oxide at a concentration high enough to deliver broad-spectrum protection tends to thicken the emulsion, dull the finish, and leave a visible film on skin.
Our development work concentrates on the dispersion stage rather than the emulsification stage. How the filter is wetted, milled, and stabilised before it ever meets the oil phase determines whether the finished cream feels like a cream or like a paste.
This format is in formulation development. We are working with brand partners who want to shape the sensory profile early rather than pick from a catalogue at the end.
What governs this format
- Emollient system
- Selected against the target skin feel, not against cost alone
- Filter loading
- Determined by target protection level and cast tolerance
- Preservative strategy
- Matched to the pH window the filter system allows
- Pack compatibility
- Validated against the proposed primary pack
Specific values — viscosity, filter loading, protection level — are set per project against the brief. We do not publish figures we have not measured on your formulation.
Typically developed for
- Daily facial SPF
- Body protection
- Sensitive-skin positioning
- Baby and child ranges
